UN Commits $20 billion for Initiative to Improve Health Care for Women and Children in Developing Countries

NPR's Brenda Wilson reports on the UN's new initiative to provide healthcare to women and children whose health has been jeopardized since the onset of the financial crisis. The initiative targets 49 countries with the highest rates of maternal and child mortality; 9 million children die in their first year of life and half a million women die during child birth each year.
